Last week the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2020 Grammy Awards. The 62nd awards ceremony and televised extravaganza will be held on Jan. 26. Let's sample the nominees for Best Latin Jazz Album!

Miguel Zenon,  Sonero — The Music of Ismael RiveraPuerto Rican saxophonist and educator Miguel Zenon put his heart and soul into this tribute to the revered salsa singer and composer Ismael Rivera.

Chick Corea and the Spanish Heart Band, Antidote: Chick has always been drawn to Spanish, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and other latin styles. Professing music and art as the "antidote" to man's inhumanity to man, the international Spanish Heart band reworks a few Corea classics, explores new originals and even takes on Stravinsky.

John Finbury featuring Thalma de Freitas, Sorte!: Pianist and songwriter John Finbury collaborated with singer/actress/songwriter Thalma de Freitas and an all-star band for this delightful collection of deeply soulful Brazilian music.

David Sanchez, Carib: Continuing the exploration of his Afro-Caribbean roots, saxophonist David Sanchez blends jazz with musical traditions from Puerto Rico, Haiti and beyond.

Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Una Noche con Rubén BladesThe charismatic Panamanian actor, musician and activist Rubén Blades debuted at Jazz At Lincoln Center with three nights of magical performances, the best of which were collected on this recording.
