Mercedes Nicole In Concert At Seattle Art Museum

This week on Jazz Northwest we feature highlights from Mercedes Nicole’s recent concert at the Seattle Art Museum. The concert was part of the monthly series presented by Earshot Jazz in partnership with the Seattle Art Museum.  Mercedes Nicole sings a selection of songs inspired by some of her favorite singers from Billie Holiday to The Drifters and Gregory Porter. She is accompanied by Craig Hoyer, piano, Rachael Contorer, bass and Larry Vincent Jones on drums. The concert was recorded on June 7 at The Seattle Art Museum.

Also on this show is music arranged by Bob Hammer for a Clark Terry album in 1964, and recent releases by Jay Thomas, Bill Anschell and Vancouver BC saxophonist Cory Weeds.

Earshot and the Seattle Art Museum Art of Jazz concerts will be outside at the Olympic Sculpture Park this Summer. Will Bernard's Organ Trio plays on July 19, and Orchestra Zarabanda plays on August 9. Both concerts begin at 5:30.
