KNKX travel expert Matthew Brumley loves visiting Italy.

In Taormina, Sicily, he was walking down a narrow street when he found himself drawn into a bakery full of cannoli.

The owner of the bakery is named Onofrio, and his family has run La Pignolata Guiness since 1978. He’s been making cannoli since he was a little boy.

“It’s the original recipe – flour, eggs, sugar – prepared by hand,” he said. “Our philosophy of life is to prepare fresh every day, every day, every day.”

Cannoli is a typical Sicilian dessert.

“But,” Onofrio says, “we eat it also for breakfast and after dinner, and before we go to sleep as well.”
